pressy
« on: December 28, 2012, 08:57:16 pm »

My Christmas pressy has arrived at last  :santariding:    .  It's a bandsaw to help cut up horns to make buttons, toggles, jewellery once I've had some practice, and  :knit: stitch markers.   I have a Dremmel with all the drilling and polishing bits and a small vice, so I should be good to go  8)    I wonder what else I can use the bandsaw for

Excellent
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Sawing up bodies?

They would need to be very thin  ;D  although by the look of it I'm more likely to saw off my own
fingers  :o
Not tried it yet - too torrentially rainy to make a trip to the workshop seem appealing

Jigsaw puzzles?
We'll turn the dust to soil,
Turn the rust of hate back into passion.
It's not water into wine
But it's here, and it's happening.
Massive,
but passive.

Bring the peace back

Sadly not - a jigsaw has a thinner blade which apparently reciprocates ie goes up and down, whereas the bandsaw has a slightly wider blade which only goes in one direction (never-ending loop).

But that has given me an idea for pressies for the various smaller grandchildren - jigsaw puzzles of pics from here.  The youngest is particularly fond of jigsaw puzzles and hardly ever gets this far north, but loves it here when he does come.  Thank you for that idea  8)
