£8 for a mini heston bale of straw, not sure how much it weighs, maybe 100-150 kilo

Cant get hold of conventional bale straw but would use it too quick anyway

£2.20 delivered here in the Forest of Dean.  But it is very short, so less insulating than usual.  We could only have 100 of our pre-ordered 130 as the farmer (one of the main straw providers in the area) was so short this year.  He didn't manage to make any hay at all, either!

Hay was cheap this year from another source, but is not great quality.  We paid £1.50 a bale, for 60 bales collected, but have been offered a further 60 for free just so that farmer can reaach the back of his garage and get his winter tyres out  :D

So, our pigs are having hay put into the mudbaths that have developed in their new runs too, just to help give them better footing in some areas.  Its nice to be able to be freely generous with it for them in such hideous weather.
