Hello, from Mid Wales!
« on: December 12, 2012, 11:55:14 am »
Hi all,
Have enjoyed looking round the site so thought I would take the plunge and join  ;D

We have recently moved to Mid Wales to a smallholding with approx. 6 acres.... resisting the urge to fill it!

We have recently acquired 4 Pygmy Goats - will be arriving this weekend, cannot wait  :excited:

Looking at getting a small flock of Jacobs soon, and the ultimate aim is to have a herd of alpacas...

Look forward to getting to know you!

Welcome to you both , 6 acres is wonderful , We hope you don't need sherpas like the last place, Alpaccas are a waste of space, get some propper milk goats , and more sheep to make the most of the land.
Good luck with the new holding, you know where we are if you need a hand.

Hi and welcome from icy Shropshire.  -3C here in the middle of the day.  Dread to think what it is by now.  I'm with Tiz on the subject of goats.

 from freeeeeezing Bala.  My Neighbours have Alpacas.  They are nice to look at :-J .  I too dont 'get' them... expensive, not really in the pet bracket OR business bracket (would love to see a business plan to show otherwise)?  They are VERY cute though, and I am enjoying spinning the fleece.

hellooo and Welcome from Narnia aka Worcestershire.

I tossed up between Alpapacas and goats when we moved here. Did loads of research and when I met some alpacas at Moreton show decided I really didn't think I'd enjoy them. My goats are obviously part of my business now as they provide milk for the soap as well as for my cows milk intolerant children but as I don't make anything textile wise Alpacas would have been just an expensive hobby for me. Each to their own though!

enjoy your new venture!

Very wet here in Caerphilly! Hope you enjoy using this forum - very helpful bunch of smallholders on here. Definitely the friendliest site I've found.
