Okay, I have called the number listed, and Lynn apologises for not having managed to get to her messages recently.
The pigs belong to her daughter who was unfortunately taken in by an advert in a local paper. But, to her credit, she has had the foresight to know that they are outdoor animals, where they have been kept, and to get a CPH number as the vendor advised. I have passed on details of the eaml2 system and have suggested that they register in advance, ready for someone saying yes to the piglets.
I am considering taking them - mainly because we have visitors to the farm and think it would be a good educational programme for people to see what a tea cup piglet will really grow into. But if anyone would really like them for their own sake, then they should ring and arrange to take them.
It really is a sad situation when breeders do this to members of the public. While the public should of course take better steps to be informed, who hasn't been taken in by advertising and clever PR at some point or other in their lives. Even if it is to believe that someone like Tescos wants to save us money!
