I've just been looking through posts and sadly saw that pastie4x4 has just lost a sheep to possible poisoning (so sorry) and that violetsprite has a sick sheep, (keep my fingers crossed).  I know from having looked at the forum for sometime now that there are some brilliant remedies that people have when there's an emergency. I was wondering if people would put their remedies on the site so that if we have problems with our sheep we can try something which might help before the vet comes - someone mentioned strong tea for rhododendron poisoning - how much would you use and would you put sugar in it? For bloat I've seen that jaykay recommends 40mls vegetable oil and bicarb. Do you give the veg. oil on its own first then the bicarb.?
Would this help anyone else? Thank you.

What a good idea!

For bloat I use this:
100ml water, 100ml veg oil, 2 tbsp sodium bicarb.  Mix well.  This amount for an adult, less for a lamb.
Or (for lambs on bottles):
0.5tsp ground ginger in 2tbsp water.
I would also gently massage the tummy in a circular direction (if not an extreme case).  And force exercise in all instances.

TimT's twin lamb drench recipe with egg and something would be a good one for the list too...
