 That's why the laity didn't want to change it - it would have ruined the old joke  ::) No, wait, perhaps they're the old joke  >:(

I was very disappointed in the result of the vote.  It suggests that women are good enough to be vicars but not to get promotion.  It will come though.

hell and damnation to all the none believers and they will burn in the fires of hell,  religion is dead completely out of touch with the modern world.

Well said bigchicken. I saw one of the against lot saying that a man and womans roles weren't reversable in the home so only men should be bishops I thought it was 2012 not 1812 and people say the church has its finger on the pulse, give me a break.

The archbishop of canterbury said that because of this decision the church would lose credability, hello you can't lose what you haven't got.

I am very saddened by the result of this vote..... especially as it wasn't the bishops who voted no .... the vote was lost by the ordinary people vote!  I too heard, and was amazed, by the sexist comments made earlier in the day on radio 4  .... in anyother capacity these comments wouldnt have been allowed.

As a individual with Christian faith I find the destructive nature of 'religion' and its extremists very sad.

backinwellies, that's what shocked me, how can an Intelligent Person say those things on TV especially, when me and my husband herd that we were so Shocked..... I should imagine a lot of clerics and other church people were shocked too,.

Over the years I have become more  And more cynical, Especially if that was the best argument they could put up for women not becoming Bishops.

A FB friend of a friend (I think they are elderly) said that it was OK to be narrow minded at times   I totaly disagree, Narrow minded is never OK!
People are entitled to thier views for a valid reason, thats fine, even if they are not popular views but they should at least have a good reason.

its ASDA!
mandy :pig:

Morrisons have done it, too, I bet they have the same agency - the worst was that I liked the ad because it's reality  :P for most uf us. then they said "and I wouldn't have it any other way" - Oh, yes, I would!

When that debate on Bishops was on a woman was interviewd and she said that women really didn't have to have those jobs as well I nearly puked. Not much has changed over the last decades. Institutions just can't give any little bit of power up and too many girls are backing them all over the world. Real sad. :&>
