Moving my pigs to new farm .....same holding number?
« on: October 10, 2012, 10:28:46 am »
Finally sorted holding number issues, and now want to move 4 kune kunes to new land.  I got them on a pig movement form, nothing done on line.  What do I have to do. as in what forms to fill, to take them to new place?  I can move my goats and sheep to new place without forms, just fill details in a movement book, but not sure about pigs.
Can someone advise me please?
Next problem will be getting the pigs over the field to the trailer, as being so wet we cannot risk driving in the field, and same at othe end.  And cannot let little Lucky travel with he big sistes as they are enormous!!!

As i understand it if they aren't changing holding numbers just fields you don't need to do anything, just move them.
If you are changing to land with a different holding number you will need to an electronic AML online. Google AML2 and it will take you to the BPEX website.
Don't feed them the morning you move them so that they're hungry then rattle a bucket of pig nuts and they should follow you to the trailer.
Good luck

No .....I bought 10 acres plus adjoining 3 acres rented, and it is within 5 miles of my other holding - therefore I can use the same holding number ......

then id presume u wouldnt need a license to move the pigs as they are returning to  the same holding number. we took our piglets to the local school and they stayed in the trailer so werent unloaded, then they went straight home, the animal health said treat that as a "ride out" , the way u would if going to the vet, just make a note in your records.
be easier to fone up animal health and ask.
