Theres not much of it grown here in the north especially since York shut, could try Sygenta or one of the other sugar beet seed providers and see if they'll send you a sample pack, you might pick up fodder beet or mangol seeds from a local farmer who grows them for his sheep, they're the same family.

Not a problem over here all/most seed displays have usable sized fodder beet seeds.
I grow them for my bunnies as even frozen you can, just about, cut them up.
(my horse only likes the soaked beet pellets )

Fodder beet and mangels are the same thing really but , they have been bred for different purposes and don't have the same sugar content as sugar beet .
If it is sugar that is the goal , then you may get some from some of the sweeter beets but not as much as you will from sugar beet that gives about 18% sugar .
You can get small qts of sb seeds on ebay , 150 = £3.50 i think .
The ones from the uk are gm free atm , those from usa are not in the main .
At home you don't get 18% , unless you go very proffessional , you get about 10-15% as brown sugar . If you want white refined you have to do a lot more work and add a chemical , the name of which escapes me .
I just went the boil and drain way for brown .
20lb of sb did give a bit over 2lb of brown sugar and 12lb + of cake . The difference went up as steam in the process .
My s/beets were about 1.5 -2lb each grown the same as beet for the table .
The cake can be eaten or fed to livestock .
