I would have thought that seeing as the vets have to have the dog's microchip number ( & scan to check it too) for things such as hip scoring & (legal) tail docking, then why not for other tests
Not sure about the tail docking, pups at the time of docking are too young to be chipped and my bitch wasn't scanned for her chip the other day.
All I can say is that my puppy was legally docked & it has his micro-chip number on his certificate issued by the vet that carried it out, also on his Kennel Club notification of legal docking.
Our vets run the scanner over the dogs on an annual basis, just to check they haven't moved/are still working.
Just a thought on this - the 'legally docked' paperwork has the chip info on but as I understand it the two things are not necessarily done at the same time.
