Ideas for pears
« on: May 20, 2009, 12:47:52 pm »
Looks like we'll be having a bumper crop of pears again this year, after a total failure last year.  Anyone got any good recipes to use up the surplus???  My biggest success last time was pears poached in red wine and orange,  but the pear chutney was not a hit!

I use the Allrecipes website for some good ideas.  They have one for a pear pie which my family absolutely loves.  The site is quite good as you can review what other people have said about the recipe and get extra tips.  See link below for pear pie.

our favourite is Pear Helene, peeled and poached in syrup with a black chocolate sauce!
Very simple, yum! :&>

Pear and chocolate cake  ;D YUM !
Make it in much the same way as pineapple upside down cake - layer of half pears in the base and cover with choc cake mix, it's delicious and the pears keep the cake lovely and moist.
Mmmmmm, my mouth's watering just thinking about it !  ;)
