Darent teach my Haffie any tricks - she will start doing them at inopportune moments on hacks!

Blimey.  Really pretty.

A couple of sisters used to hunt a pair of Haflingers with snaffles (in the days when I could still ride).  They used to use my 17h IDx as brakes but they were so nice I didn't mind.  I doubt they were stallions!

Does anyone know the name of that French guy who exhibits his ponies loose? He was at Dublin Horse Show this year, this put me in mind of him, such trust and control!

The only time I took my 17hh IDx hunting we used everyone as brakes :-DDD!!!  but my Haffie is also a bit 'go faster stripes' when other horses are off running. As the Fatpony blog online (haffy owner) says, If you'd wanted me to stop you should have used another bit' :-DDDD I ride my Haffie in a hanging cheek snaffle (no more brakes but it is more stable in the mouth than a loose ring) but the IDx at the grand old age of 20 still requires a running gag....:-)) (ridden on the snaffle rein tho, the other one is knotted on the neck as a 'warning' :-DD

As was once said "there are fools, damn fools and those who hunt in a snaffle" :)

The very competent lady who bought my beloved and wonderfully good natured IDx was convinced she could hunt him in a snaffle.  Last time I saw him out he was sporting a Cheltenham gag :excited:

My old pony was a haflinger, i had him up until last year when i had to have him pts with cushings. He was an absolute gem. i bought him when he was four and we hunted, did dressage, won a dressage prelim championship and did showjumping ( i wasn't that good at that) i really recommend them as a breed they are so even tempered.
He even stopped once when i fell off out hunting we jumped a ditch and i fell off the side and he stopped dead and waited patiently for his dumb mother to get back on, then took off like a rocket!!
Like i said i really recommend them, lovely ponies
