My Dream Farm

Must be the time of year! Had a contact from Jo Bartlett at Betty TV looking for potential participants for a TV series called "My Dream Farm" Details below. If you are interested, contact Jo direct.

Come on, folks, don't be shy - I know there are TASers out there who fit the bill, so help the lady out!

" To give you a bit more information, the series we are working on is provisionally titled My Dream Farm, and will be six one-hour programmes for Channel 4.  We will follow 6 different people as they start up a new smallholding venture, specialising in anything from cows, sheep, chickens, goats and pigs, to fruit, carrots, alpacas or wild boar. As well as following their progress over a period of around 4 months, we will also be introducing them to a mentor who will be able to give them advice on areas they are finding tricky - for example, if they want to start rearing rare breeds but don't know which ones would do well in their area, they could introduce them to someone who is keeping this breed successfully.  Similarly, if they are having problems marketing their produce they could be offered advice by an expert on this area.  As the series is going out on Channel 4 at 8pm, we are expecting a large audience, and as such this could be quite a valuable opportunity for the producer featured - we hope that taking part in the series could be helpful for some new producers out there, as well as making an interesting and absorbing series.

We are looking for people who are just starting out in smallholding and would like to be considered for the programme.  We are looking for
people specifically in the South West region at the moment, so this would include Worcester, Herts, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wilts,
Berkshire, Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.  They could be families, individuals or couples who are giving up their 9-5 and have
just begun setting up their very first smallholding, or who are 6 - 18 months down the line and still finding their feet.  Ideally we are
looking for people who are considering this as a serious venture, people for whom this is a radical lifestyle change, and who really
want to make it work.  There is obviously no obligation at all to be included at this stage, but having an initial chat allows people to
find out more about the series, and for us to find out about them."
