I am getting really fed up with buying one set of hose pipe fittings after another and finding that they don't work. By that I mean the hose slipping out of the fitting.
Can anyone recomend hose pipe fittings that are reliable and that work?

cut the end of the hose or use better hose

We've had similar problems here, as it used to be a dairy farm (many moons ago) & the water pressure is very high - the only fittings that we've managed to keep on are the (expensive

) Hozelock ones. As Robert said a good quality hose will help too, as the cheaper ones give-out around the fittings & blow - so out comes the saw again

- our 50 metre hoses had ended-up as 10 metre ones - & it's such a flaff, coz they always went when it was raining

We use a lot of hosepipes around our holding to top up the pigs etc and agree with RW & BWD that the more money you spend the better they are and the longer they last, the Hozellock are the best, we just invested in two new complete kits which come with 30mtr hose, tap connector and sprayer end which are supposed to be unkinkable, we shall see!

We use brass fittings, they cost more but are virtually unbreakable.

Perhaps you could fit a pressure regulating valve inside in a frost free area and limit the pressure to 3 bar BML. Then as said, good fittings (we use Hoselock) but most importantly good pipe because the cheap stuff has a thinner wall which the fittings won't grip properly.
