Chickens and Rabbits?
« on: August 11, 2012, 10:40:43 am »
Hi. We keep our growing pullets in a 8ft x 4ft run with house attached. Is it sensible to keep our 2 rabbits in the same run with their own house for night or would this be problematic in terms of aggression from either or any health implications? It seems a waste of a grat space for the rabbits if it wouldn't cause any issues?

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't as the rabbits will eat the chicks food which isn't good for them, and the birds wiil scratch up and soil the rabbit's hay etc ;)
We'll turn the dust to soil,

But it's here, and it's happening.

but passive.

We had 2 rabbits in the past who did share a large run with our hens via a sort of access tunnel. They did have their own multi storey hutch to sleep in/escape to if they wished but sharing the run meant a lot more space for them. Chicken food hoppers were suspended so don't think they consumed much ..... didn't seem to harm them if they did get some which I suppose they might have  :o . Lived to a good old age and didn't seem to be any aggression between them and the hens but they did have and used their own accomodation. Also ranged in the well fenced garden in the day with the hens.
