Help with rabit problem East Yorkshire
« on: August 04, 2012, 08:04:42 am »
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post but here goes.
I'm hoping to find a local ferret owner who would like to give his pets a bit of sport by helping me tackle my rabit population.
Can any one suggest where I could find someone suitable. I have tried the local ferret rescue centre but with no joy.

Any thoughts?

Ferreting is more of a winter sport (late autumn onwards). I'd try posting on one of the related forums on a shooting site like the country sports forum

Or you could try here
The Hunting Life (Fieldsports Forum, shooting, ferreting, trapping, falconry and working dogs.)

BUT get to know the people you select to do the job,and if they cant give traceable landline number or address tell them to do one, meet up a few times before giving your exact location, stipulate in writing what may be permitted,ie no shooting, lamping etc.If terms are not adhered to permission will be cancelled

Thanks,

we have asked the sharp shooters who we allow to shoot on our land as they are all CRB checked and very proffessional. They said they can recomend someone so hopefully they will come in a couple of months.

I find the local 'keeper is usually in the know about who can be trusted.
