Tomorrow I've got to dose the piglets (14 weeks) with Noromectin.... I've created a crush and my master plan is to feed them into it and then inject them.
 
I've given intramuscular injections before ..... but not subcutaneous.  I've got the correct needle and looked up the diagrams but.... any tips anyone?

If it's anything like other animals, you just secure the pig, lift the skin, stick them and draw to make sure there is no blood and then push. Done.
Back of neck, over shoulders, armpit, leg pit are usually the easiest places.

Not simple whatever you plan.   Some will be easy to get hold of and do, others will wriggle, squeal, shake, rattle and roll the moment you get anywhere near them with a syringe, and boy can they move fast.   Remember to have a marker pen with you so you can see instantly which ones you've done and which not, easier than reading ear tags covered in mud.   Good luck - Tamsaddle

Well...... that had a hint of the Benny Hill's about it
 
All done but they were a bit "frisky".  Gottem in a crush and did them one by one.  Hopefully the needle size means it was subcutaneous.....but I've got a feeling one or two felt intramuscular....

Not much help to you now I'm afraid, but for your next lot, it's probably worth doing them earlier - say 6 or 8 weeks - that way they're still small enough to be more easily held and restrained 
If you tuck their snout under one arm and support them with that arm under their body it gets them into exactly the right position to make getting that sub-cut spot easy  So easy, you can do them single handed (If you're my hubby ) but having an extra pair of hands is always good too

I've never wormed before but I bought two tammy weaners in and they have worms so.... now its worming in the future.
 
Mum is in the area next door but to be honest she never lifted her head from her grub! 
 
15 weeks old today so not quite as easy to handle as when they were littler!
 
Not sure what the effect is if a couple were intramuscular and google didn't help...

it may cause an abscess in the pork that would require to be cut out when being butchered  or may lead to the carcass being condemned

I think it was Dixie on here that was told by her vet that it was ok to inject a subcutaneous wormer intramuscularly.

Robert, will I be able to tell if there is an absess....?

you wont be able to tell till it is on the hook or on the cutting block      the injections work in different ways and will have a different affect on the animal      we all drive on the left hand side of the road but it will be alright to drive on the right   the same principal applies

I'll keep my fingers crossed. I used an inch needle as recommended so hopefully i will be alright
