Got Essex police to release file to Kent police. Kent went to the site but only the centre of it is public. The outside camps are private so they need a warrent. So Kent have reverted back to Essex to decide if they should get a warrent. Further info from a source is she is being kept in 1 of 5 stables off Watlin Street. The head of the site's nephew is the one who took Bella and he is quite against livestock theft, but other attempts to retreve stolen animals from there have failed as they refuse to release them. So we are at stalemate!

Apparently a family went in because they had stolen their autistic sons pet pig, they begged for it back and got a firm no.
I wouldn't want anyone risking anything to get her back. I am mainly happy she is not curry.

I think we will have to leave it and get a new goat. Dissappointing, but they know where we live and I don't want to cause a longer lasting trouble for us or anyone else.

I still have someone looking into it for me but I think it is over

Thats really sad.....I do wonder though, if you dont stand up to them, what is to stop them taking the next one? Its what happens when people buy new saddles etc when the old ones are stolen, or lawnmowers.
Why not spend the money you would have to spend buying a new one, buying the old one back, or trying to? (not that you should have to buy your own animal back but thats beside the point).
If that didnt work then there is still the option of the warrant. (which would not take long to obtain given the fact the other family's animal is also there). I assume you have things to prove ownership etc.
I just dont see the point of replacing something they obviously see as easy pickings when as you say they know where you live.
NB I am also glad she isnt burgers!

Don't give up! Maybe they will sell her back to you, or the suggestion of a reward was a good idea.
Tomorrow is Sunday.......... it could be a good day to try. A lot of travelers are religious on some level.

If you can prove she is yours, and are prepared to "buy her back" (at least in principle!) then go for it ... do whatever you can...

Well jinglejoys an RSPCA friend only said that to me this morning! And it seems DEFRA have more power than the police. Unfortunatley they don't seem to be open today but I will be calling them first thing in the morning!

But what happens to the actual animals that have been moved without permission/licenses

Apparently they go into a holding cell for 28 days, but I haven't actually spoken to DEFRA about it yet

Will do because I have been advised to sell Holly if I don't get Bella back, she may reject another goat and we haven't got room for another horse. She is really depressed at the moment, may send her off to a paddock next to other horses if we have to wait 28 days to get Bella back, if DEFRA don't get her not sure what to do!

I think a paddock next to some other horses sounds like a good plan while you sort this out.

Have you given up on the idea of going round and offering the reward / asking them to do the right thing today?
