Arggghhhh.... I could curse...........
« on: July 30, 2012, 01:04:46 pm »
.......and I flippin' well have  been! LOL! 3 weeks before our first ever show and my lovely Charollais ewe who is being shown in a pair as a 4 tooth breeding ewe has really come up to condition looking absolutely gorgeous and toned.
However as i was sat in amongst them today getting much needed sheep-lovin' I noticed she has only gone and developed flippin' warts on her udder. One generous wart beside each teat.
No more showing of her. I believe they are harmless and will go on their own within 6 months or so. They look pretty inoffensive; flesh coloured, soft, not cracked or sore - and she has no sign of mastitis (has nearly dried up now.)
Isn't that just the way!  :gloomy: :gloomy: :gloomy:
p.s I understand also that warts are a symptom of magnesium deficiency so I have put the Hi-Masg lick bucket back in!

Is it Orf ?
If so, you do know it's zoonotic don't you. ::)

Try putting dandelion sap on the warts twice a day. (ducks to avoid ridicule) Got rid of my warts (ON MY HANDS before anyone comes up with anything smutty!) within 2 weeks :fc:
We'll turn the dust to soil,
Turn the rust of hate back into passion.
It's not water into wine
But it's here, and it's happening.
Massive,
but passive.

Bring the peace back

It's defo not orf... they are 2 fleshy pink mounds...exactly like all the pics I see of udder-warts. We have never had orf and the fields this ewe is in are completely thistle-less.
I will defo try the dandelion sap trick. They are quite large. About the size of a penny. One right beside each teat. I have also been told huma wart spray freeze works wonders.
