i was only applying sense to it       and think had it been challenged in court the regulating authority would have looked pretty stupid   trying to do you for running a 3.5 ton trailer on a vehicle that has a limit of 2000kilos  and the trailer and load only comes to 2000kilos
 
anyway tractors (agric)are plated as well some can have a gross weight of 32 tons     but the agric limit is around 24 tons tractor  trailer  load   in theory to be legal you would need to carry 9 tons in a 18 ton capacity trailer     just wonder what the old beek would say to that    and to cap it all a 16 year old can run with a tractor and trailer  up to the limit      but a car driver has to sit another test to tow even a camping trailer
