Diseased ornamental cherry tree
« on: June 24, 2012, 12:50:29 pm »
I bought a little ornamental cherry tree last year and it has had lovely blossom this year. It's still in a pot neil we decide its final destination.

I have noticed that alot of new leaves seem to have grown out very twisted although I notice some new growth which seems to be OK.

Anybody know what this could be due to? Late frost? Disease?

Any suggestions as to what it is and how I can fix it?

Peach leaf curl - also affects cherries?  Caused by aphids.

Oooh yes - a classic case. Caused by a fungus.

Thanks jaykay. I'll keep an eye on it and prune the affected leaves back now. It is putting on a second flush as described. I will be ready at the end of the sumer and early spring.
