My Hay supplier has let me down.
« on: June 13, 2012, 03:25:21 pm »
My hay supplier who we have bought hay straight off of the fields for the last 10 years or so has let us down this year. As we normally have about 200 bales from him it will make a big dent in our winter supplies. Anyone not too far from me making any this year,(only small bales wanted) willing to sell some at a reasonable price. Based 10 miles outside Aberystwyth. :fc:

I think we are too far from you (Bala)? But if you cant find any closer - you'd be welcome (not that I'm counting my bales before they're in!!! ) We usually get £3.75/per bale collected from field if that is of interest?  Fingers crossed for a good year - its looking like about 3 weeks away unless the weather goes against us.  Good luck, Fi

Id hold fire - if we get this dry spell in July - there will be shedloads of hay about, price might drop a bit too.

I dont think we'll be taking any hay off this year - fields pretty well wrecked boo :( .  We might get something off, but it wont be hay!  Howling hooly here and torential for days. Oh well, we managed 450 bales in first year, so 'rough with smooth' and all that. :)  Hope all your fields are faring better.

Just thought I'd try with this again as it is getting nearer to haymaking time.

Quite a lot of small baler harvesting unlikely until mid July minimum this year - the weather has ruled out until then (small bales needing more manual handling for a given field area than rounds). Hoping to get ours done then. So dont panic....

Not been able to get mine cut yet, all the farmers are catching up with silage.

IF I get it cut and baled I should have some spare,  I'm near Llanidloes if that's any help.  Have to wait and see if we get some more dry weather over the next few weeks, I've missed this bit.  Let me know if your interested and I'll keep you posted.
