Hi from Bervie
« on: June 08, 2012, 07:33:36 pm »
Hi
My husband sent me this site and it is excellent. I am not used to posting on line so this is new to me.
I live in a small coast town near Aberdeen but grew up in Carnoustie.
We have always had animals and really enjoy time with them. At present I have 2 Westies and a cat, but excitingly have just purchased 4 Buff Orpington chickens who are absolutely great.

I have never had chickens before, but have always wanted some and now cannot imagine life without them... Even the Westies are fascinated !

Hello and welcome from Durham.  :chook: sooo addictive. We started with a couple last year and are looking to get some more now.  The eggs are superb. I've never been offered so many other fruit/veg for swaps. Just cannot keep up. Being hybrids they each lay daily too

Welcome to the forum Maddie.
We have 4 chickens, 2 light sussex, 1 black rock and 1 bluebelle. We have only had them for a couple of months but I find them fascinating too. They follow me about as if I was the pied piper. Its cupboard love really as they are only after food.

Hi Maddie

Good luck with the chickens.

We got our first birds just over a year ago, I was reluctant to have them because I didn't think I could manage them but so glad I agreed.  I didn't realise chickens could have such character.  Now one year on we've just had our first lot of chicks hatch out and I'm hooked.

Hi Maddie and welcome to the forum. Buff Orpingtons -good choice. Very fond of our Orpingtons is my wife. I like my TNN's and English Leghorn bantams, but all our chickens are great!

Hello from a surprisingly warm and sunny Somerset ;D

Chickens are great aren't they? Such characters, and I swear you can have a conversation with them.
