Went to a farmers market at the week end and noticed 1 of the vendors selling wild garlic, only 5p per clove,i did intend on buying a couple of dozen but got distracted with the pork pies, scotch eggs and other savouries.Just wondered how the taste compares against shop bought/home grown garlic would compare.

Not seen wild garlic being sold in clove form but as leaves round here. It gives a softer flavour more like a slow roasted clove than a freshly sliced one.

If you get some wild garlic bulbs next time you see them at the farmers market, plant them don't eat them. Like already mentioned the flavour is in the leaves, the flowers are edible as well.

They like a shady place to grow, they're a woodland plant. You could probably find them growing wild if you have woodland near you. They have a milder flavour than ordinary garlic and make a lovely soup.
