Hi, I had arranged with my shearer to do our flock pre-lambing in March but the weather was so utterly foul that we had to cancel. I didn't want the girls losing condition through rain and cold at such a crucial time. We postponed to May but the shearer now cannot come until the end of June. If a cancellation occurs then he may be able to come earlier but there's no guarantee. Now the weather problems are at the opposite end of the spectrum and my sheep are getting both subject to heatstroke and are very vulnerable to the possibility of flystrike (I have seen blowflies around and about) as the wool is rising leaving a lovely warm pocket for the flies to take up residence. Does anyone know of a really good, careful shearer covering my area (South Lincs) who can cope with a flock of around 50 sheep? I'm shearing by hand in piecemeal but it's going to be impossible for me to get through them all.
Thanks in advance.
