ive never had a goat kid before but have seen some kid but noticed the keeper called vet to late to help , so decided to call vet for advice as she had been in labour all afternoon i was getting worried she hadnt got the kids up the birth canal vet couldnt understand why not as there not big kids but all are doing fine got go check them again soon to make sure kids have fed then leaving alone until morning as she has had a long painful day

Good to know the outcome was good.  Not very nice for your first kidding though!!  Don't be put off, most of the time the goat kids without any problem.  You did the right thing getting the vet though.

Keep a close eye on the mother for the next 24 - 48 hours..... this is a very dodgy time for a goat who has had a VERY protracted kidding.    Milk fever is a strong candidate..... if she lookseven the tiniest bit off colour,   call the VET at once do not delay.    Milk fever happens within a matter of a few hours..... she will need calcium injected if it happens.  Until you have seen it happen, you cannot believe the speed it takes over.
Milk fever can happen to any heavy producing goat but the assisted/long kiddings are the ones more likely.
Symptoms are    tiredness. not very hungry/not eating at all, temperature (not easy to determine at first),not wanting to get up.   Better to be safe than sorry.
The good thing is two healthy kids.
