St George's mushrooms
« on: May 01, 2012, 05:41:30 pm »
Anyone else getting a bumper crop this year?
We are picking them by the hundreds this year, seriously a friend and I went out this afternoon and in 10 mins picked 10 kilos :o :o
If anyone is in Somerset and fancies a walk, I'll break the 'don't tell your mushroom places' rule and take you there

I've never heard of St George's mushrooms.  Do you have a picture?

We are drying them, making them into soup, mushroom pate you name it! I'm not wasting this crop of free food!!
DITW if you can, come up and crash here for a night. Seriously it'll be worth it. There is a fairy ring that has to be 30 foot across, and todays haul hasn't even dented whats there :o
But if you cant I will gladly dry some for you ;)

My OH has had an allergy to mushrooms for around 50 years! Just a sniff of the tasty funghi send him racing to the bathroom, not to be seen again for hours!! When we go out for dinner, or when he goes into hospital, I have to make it patently clear that his food has to be completely mushroom free or they will face the consequences!!

Wish I still lived in Somerset.  I'd be round like a shot.
