Move them at night as Fowlman suggests but then you don't need the water. Least stress for the chickens as to them it's just a windy night. Difficulty is the coop. They have to come out and go in which takes extra time loading and unloading. We have this issue with a move to France so we are doubling up on coops. Loading the new ones for France into the trailer a few days before and then assembling them down there. May even take them first, as it is a 12 hour drive, then the coops have to be assembled whilst the chickens are still asleep in the blacked-out but ventillated van.
