Wanted. Ryeland Ram
« on: April 13, 2009, 07:43:50 pm »
I need a registered ryeland ram as Archie is getting past it and only produced 1 set twin lambs this year.  :'( I only have 6 ewes at present to breed off but may increase slightly. Here is the catch - I don't have much money!  :'( :'( Can any one help or advise.  :-[ I live on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border so distance may also be a problem. ::) :sheep:

If you were closer, I'd lend you Li'l' Bud. He's only weeny but growing fast and I know it's gowing to be awful hard to eat him when the time comes.

I bought our two ewe lambs from http://roston-ryelands.co.uk/. They're probably quite near you and sometimes have a ram or two for sale.

You don't say if you want a white or coloured ram as some breeders tend to specialise in one or the other.

have you contacted the ryeland society? we did a internet search and found a lovely couple who lent us a ram who's done the business and now gone back. no cost involved although we did offer, so gave them a big pork joint for sun lunch as a thankyou.

I have both coloured and white Ryeland Rams about 15 at moment, most of them are registered, but I have one of last years who isn't but I can register him. I am a member of the Ryeland Flock Book Society, so the offer still stands, if you can sort out some sort of transport they are here and I wouldn't charge too much as i need to down size a little to try to concentrate of the OH a bit more.
