Hello!
« on: April 26, 2012, 01:32:03 am »
I found The Accidental Smallholder while researching (you guessed it!) our dream to own a smallholding. We currently have nothing more than a backgarden, bantam chickens and some veggies but we're hoping to move house this year and acquire some proper land. So far I've found this site absolutely brilliant! ;D

Pootle

Welcome

I started on this site when a smallholding was just in my dreams.  A year and a bit later I have my own (very wet at the moment) smallholding and am about to get my first 2 piglets.

Good luck with your house search.

Hi Poots, have a look at www.Farmingads.co.uk/ they have a properties section, Ive had to redo my posting as the link went wrong, so i'm going to test it first. ok now it's working, where it says categories click on the down arrow and on the dropdown it has farms and propperties for sale.

Blimey! Thank you for such a warm welcome...I didn't expect so many replies ;D Biggest stumbling block so far seems to be finding property...I can't even find grazing locally to keep some poultry on!

tizaala - the link doesn't work  :(

Hello Pootle (love the name, Flumps were my favourite on TV!)

Welcome to TAS. Took us 3 years to find somewhere to 'live the dream' (some days might not refer to it that way though lol!)  finally we are in and have been for 2 and a half yrs, still slowly getting there  :)

have you tried 'sheepkeep' - don't know website off top of my head but google will help you I'm sure.

It'll happen Pootle. Wouldn't have believed 6 years ago that we'd be doing what we're doing now. I lived in a semi with a small back garden, had a normal job, wore nice clothes, went down the pub ate out occasionally and everything. Now I live in wellies, go down the Coop stinking of ewe juices and, on rare social gatherings when people say 'and what do you do?' make them lose the will to live listening to me rave on about sheep. Huzzar ;D
