Large poultry feeder

We have recently bought 6 large Orpingtons plus 5 Orpington bantams and son has a baker's dozen pekin bantams in the brooder at the moment.  This follows a  total massacre by the local fox which left us hen less for a few weeks until we re-grouped.

Fortunately the Orpingtons are so placid, they stand in a queue to go to bed at night and are happy to go in early before the fox starts his rounds of the local poultry population.

We have collected a mixture of feeders over the years but I have decided to have a big sort out and wondered if anyone had used a large feeder like the 'emperor poultry feeder'?  Not sure if a treadle feeder would work as the hens are all different sizes.

Many thanks.   :)

The treadle feeder would work Emman. But balancing it light enough for a bantam will allow a rat in. Someone had a rat in their treddle feeder recently -shock when they opened it.

Looked at the Emperor feeder. It's huge and rather high for bantams at 22.5cm to feed point. Never used one but it saves a standard feeder needing a shelter. An adaptor for messy eaters is offered as an extra at Flyte so Fancy, so perhaps you will get some wastage, which means rats.

Hi Emmam, we use the emperor feeder for our ducks it is quite large but works really well, it holds plenty of feed, keeps it all dry and secure and we don't even get that much feed on the ground once the ducks have been guzzling! It makes a lot less mess than our old feeder, my hubby says its one of his better purchases for the animals!

Thank you for your replies.  I am leaning towards the emperor for our orpingtons and then we can use a couple of our smaller feeders positioned elsewhere for the bantams to use.
