Hi everyone
I am hoping someone here might be able to help with advice or an offer to rehome our lovely cat, Cosmic.
He's 75% bengal, mixed with tabby - 5 years old and quite a big lad as you can see from the pictures. He's a wonderful character - soft and sweet and gorgeous around adults and children - but seems to have a pathological hatred for other cats...
We took him on early in 2011 while we still lived in London after the family who owned him relocated to New Zealand. All seemed well - there were the usual territorial battles with other cats as he established himself but then he started picking on the cats next door, going into their houses and starting fights. Neighbours not amused. When we moved to rural Gloucestershire we thought that this would be great for him but he's been doing the same thing with our new neighbours, to the point where they are in despair at the mounting vets bills, cleaning bills and so on. There are only so many times you can take your neighbours screeching at you - especially when you're trying to settle in to a new community! We are in despair - he's such a fantastic pet: butter wouldn't melt if you didn't know what was going on behind your back when he's out and about....
We have spoken to vets and behaviouralists and they've pretty much said we can't fix it - Bengals are known for being super territorial, so we have decided very very reluctantly that we are going to have to try to find a home for him that's either completely isolated, at a livery or on a small holding - just anywhere that's not got other cats in the immediate vicinity. He's an amazing hunter - when we were still letting him out he was bringing home mice, stoats, rabbits and so on, a few times a day - so it would be his very great pleasure to keep vermin down! For now, he's confined to the house while waiting to be set free in a lovely new home!
Hope people can help us out here - thanks a million!
