Happy to report our first swallow reported in this morning.    Summers on the way

Yes I think I posted that they had arrived here 2 weeks ago - sods !! Now we have had rain they are collecting my carefully raked new grass seed area to nick the soil for a house. Very difficult to shoot as they fly so quick !1 ( just joking).

they have arrived in central Scotland this morning  and it is as cold as a witches tit must be some shock for them weather wise :farmer:

Firat one here (high up in Cumbria) last night, in the goat byre when I went to shut up. It's pretty cold here too!

Found it -
March 22nd

We have just seen ou first swallow fly over house Limousin France).
So another month or so to wait if you live in South England but late August for those of you in the soon to be Independant Republic of Scotland.

Just 1 swallow here at the moment need a few more before we can say that summer is coming.

seen them today, and house martins yesterday! so i planted the courgettes!
1 acre of land where i am clearing trees and a swimming pool so we can make the land productive. MK3 hilux single cab pickup which has been completely rebuilt over the last 2 years matt black and cool as! no animals yet except a very furry black cat called Hansel (he is so hot right now)

Hang on Phil - We had swallows on the 22/3 and it touched 30 in the sun. My courgettes are still under glass because we had a frost last night and <5 degrees under cloud. ( mind you the greenhouse did overheat when the sun came out. I think I will leave mine another 10 days ( end of the month).

Do you cover them at night when you plant them out this early?

just put the seeds in the pots in the green house mate! it was about -4 last night far too cold for them  :D but it is deffo the first swallow today. i love them and i have been looking for them everyday.
