asparagus spears

was cleaning out the asparagus bed today and found loads of buds about 3" under the ground, just can't wait for the first raw spear! 3rd year this year so can harvest everything i am led to believe! on a warm spring like this when do you think the first ones will show?
1 acre of land where i am clearing trees and a swimming pool so we can make the land productive. MK3 hilux single cab pickup which has been completely rebuilt over the last 2 years matt black and cool as! no animals yet except a very furry black cat called Hansel (he is so hot right now)

I planted some crowns in the polytunnel border last year, and its going to be on the menu tonight  ;D

Very jealous - I planted 6 rows of crowns last year - spears viciously bitten off as they emerged (not eaten) and roots decimated by weasel runs (I think) - not expecting anything this year but always hopeful, me!!!    Enjoy!

we had about 30 spears last year before the end of may cut off point. think we can take more this year as should have a good show!

We only planted our new asparagus bed in the autumn, so don't get any this year.  :(

yeah, bummer that is! i think it would be ok to have one or 2 first year, we did and did them no harm.

got mine from Marshalls as my dad is a member and gets good discount. they came well packed and all took!
