Goats and choke?

Do goats suffer with chole similar to a horse?

I watch one of ours today eating and then she stopped walked to a corner and was making kind of squelching noises, she then produced alot of what looked like saliva!! She shook her head and it all poured out with some food. Then she marched promptly back and continued to eat with the others!

Is this something i should be concerned about or not.

Cheers for reading hope ive made sense!! lol  ???

I would ring your Vet, descibe the symptoms & see what they say.

What you have described is not normal.... maybe simple choke  but better to be sure.

Well I have seen my sheep shale their head violetnly and try and cough back up some bits of concentrate, it looks quite alarming and can take them a few minutes, but they always manage... and saliva or someting similar liquid does come with it... if she went back to eat and has since behaved normally no reason to get in touch with the vet IMO. If you feed communally they quite often try and eat very quickly...

Interesting point Anke, didnt think of it that way, shall watch and see if she does it again, may even try feeding her seperatly and see how she goes. Thanks both i do feel better for hearing your views
