Free cloches!

Don't know if this is the right place to put this or not but here goes.

I need a lot of cloches for my veg garden and I loathe having to pay for them.  I went to my favourite sweet shop and had this brainwave.  The jars that the sweets come in are plastic and my shop was prepared to give them to me free.  So I loaded up the car went home, cut the base off them with a stanley knife or scissors et voila!  Stick them over the plants - a mini-greenhouse!  Unscrew the lids for air circulation if need be!  If I can find a picture from last season I'll try and post it.

Large lemonade, water and coke bottles are fine too

Great idea! I've often used lemonade bottles but, because they are quite small, the temperature builds up very quickly. My local shop is advertising them in the window - I will definitely be trying some.
