blood on eggs-dead hen!
« on: December 31, 2011, 09:34:56 pm »
i had seen a bloody egg once or twice over the last coupl of weeks, then out of the blue we had a dead chicken with blood all round her vent.  The whole flock are under a year old and perfectly healthy in every other way.  no lice/worms or anything as we stay on top of these.
I'm a little disturbed to find another bloody egg today-am i losing my flock one by one?#
is there anything tht is contagious?  or is it a coincidence?

:/

Presume Zeeteecee these are all hybrids. Sounds like internal rupture during laying and may be congenital with the particular breedstock. You should go back to the supplier.

Absolutely, they are not fit for sale. But don't get the same breed from there obviously.
