Hello everyone. We live nearby the very noisy A38 with half an acre to play with. So definitely not a smallholding, possibly a microholding. We used to keep a couple of Jacobs and then Texels who timeshared with the chickens. But as the chicken numbers increased we had to stop with the sheep. Most of the area is Orchard with a wide variety in it and a veggy plot kept extremely fertile with well rotted chicken poo. We do breed Utility Pedigree Wyandotte chickens and sell our eggs to the seasonal passing Canalboat trade. Also have Leghorn Bantams for our eggs plus others. The small area is very intensively managed to squeeze as much out of it as possible. Last year we sold 112lbs of Cherries plus some Greengages -the Plums and Damsons were poor. Might try selling the Rhubarb this year.
Look forward to joining in with discussions. I'm a Plumber by trade, but prefer to talk about chickens.

I'm Black Country born and bred but haven't lived in the Midlands for more than thirty years.  My folks are now near Lichfield, so I get down that way now and again.

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

 :wave:  Hello from Telford so not far from you.  I would definitely class your half acre as a small holding since my back garden in my micro holding.  Still manage to keep goats and grow veg and fruit in it.

We travel on the A38 quite often on our way to Derby.  Whereabouts are you?

I know.  We usually go off onto A50 to go to Chellaston but also take our caravan to Carsington twice a year.

Hello all. We are just South of Burton. We lived in Derby for 20 years, moved out to Ashbourne then down to Lichfield for 3 years. I worked in Brierley Hill 3 years, and stayed in Cradley. So I might know some of you? Oh, and I do voluntary at Blists Hill Victorian Town as a Plumber occasionally.
