And then there were four
« on: December 21, 2011, 04:57:18 pm »
Collected a further two boar weaners today to add to our herd. We had a brief escape when one of the new boys decided to go and explore the chicken enclosure (chickens were not impressed) but we got him back quite easily and all four seem to be getting on very well.

They are also all happy having back rubs and run up to greet us. Best Christmas present ever (even if we bought it for ourselves) ;D

No that's next doors, he's got sheep and beef cattle ( and a lot of straw!). Ours is a lot smaller and in the hay barn.

I love the name Hooters Hall but it brings to mind other things. ;)

Indeed  ;) but it was the name of my husband's great grandfather's farm that was compulsorily purchased and had a long history in Stoke

Here's the pics of the original Hooters Hall http://www.hootershall.co.uk/history/

There's debate as to why it was called Hooters Hall either the owls or because you could hear the trains from the farm.

If the house was there before the railway - which it may well have been if it's old, then I think it's more likely to be the owls.

I'm thinking of changing the name of my house from Ochilview (there are zillions of properties called that round here  ::)) and I'm always going in search of parcels or letters  ::)

Choice is
"Railway Sidings" - my bungalow sits side on to the goods line,
or
"Willow Farm"  - I was given a sign that says Willow Farm - free range duck and hens eggs, and I DO have willows, but it's hardly a farm  :-[   ;D ;D ;D)
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Annie,
I like the name having connection with the railway but 'sidings' doesn't sound very glamarous.
Could you have something like Railway cottage, or Railways Edge?
