Hi
I live in the West of Ireland. I was originally from Hounslow Middlesex which is right next to Heathrow Airport. I never had any farming experience until one mad day we bought 2 Landrace sows to turn over our veggie plot. That was 10 years ago. We have kept Gloucester Old Spot, Tamworth and Saddleback pigs. Done AI, bred them the natural way, made salami, sausage, ham, bacon the lot! Looking forward to sharing my experiences with you all and I'm sure I can learn something new along the way.

Welcome from wet and windy Clackmannan.  Hope it's not too bad over the sea.  Don't try to make sense of the Bawbag thread, it'll do your head in!  ;D ;D ;D

Hello and welcome!

Windy and rainy weather has made it's way to Northumberland, so it may be on it's way to you - good luck!

Hi from Dorset.

My OH was from Hounslow also.  When we first met (we worked together) he was forever taking the P@@@ out of my living "in the sticks" and saying that although he had moved to Dorset he would never be seen dead in wellies.............roll on 6 years   we now rent 2 acres...have 7 pigs 8 sheep and 30 odd chicken.  Have made our own sausages, make chutnies, pickles etc. together to sell.

He still has a normal job... I am luckier and work for myself as a gardener and accident investigator........The animals and simple things are the best.  Good Luck and this site is brilliant.

As warm a welcome as I can manage in these gales from north Cumbria

Finally got my breeding sow after wanting my own for thirty-odd years.  Still very much a novice on the pig front, so your experience will be welcome!
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
