Poor Specs
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:12:12 am »
Poor Specs, our Jersey x BB house cow has gone off to market as a cull this morning. Her udder is shot and she is barren.

She has served us well for nine years and we will miss her grumbling in the mornings.

I know how attached to our home milkers we get;  :bouquet: :bouquet: :bouquet:
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

No chance! Not yet anyway. Still two others in milk, although the Jersey cow is only being milked alternate days now. She is due to calve in early March and I am not sure the other cow will keep going that long.

A sad day, some would say its only a cow but you can't care for them well and have no attachment.  :cow:

Never a truer word spoken. We've got TB test coming up in two weeks time - I already feel sick at the prospect. VSS, thoughts are with you.
