I just found this site while looking for info on goat-keeping.  I have recently acquired two Golden Guernseys and want to know more!  I also have gold-laces orpington bantams and two rescues Staffies.  Used to have a farm with sheep, cattle, poultry and horses (not to mention cats, dogs, children... ) but have never had any experience with goats and although many aspects of animal-husbandry are applicable all round I am discovering that goats have rules of their own.

Thank you all for the welcome - and what is the joke about Kent?  Come on, I'm not easily offended or shocked!

I've already posted my first question about goat keeping...

 Hi and welcome from windy and about-to-be-wet Shropshire.  Wherabouts in Kent are you?  I grew up in Hastings so not far from Kent and visited it often.

Hi there countrywoman  from just about as far away in England as it is possible to get!  (North Cumbria, about 20 miles from Scotland  :).)

robert's jokes are ripe, very ripe.  He'd probably get banned for posting it, whatever it is  ;) :D

I had a riding holiday near Canterbury when I was about 14, I think - Pennypot Farm.  Lovely countryside for riding about in - at least, it was then!  And I have friends in West Malling, though I haven't visited them for several years.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

There still is some stunning scenery around canterbury and the north downs Sally. But sadly the southeast is far too busy and crowded now and peace and quiet is a rare thing. Too many bankers, developers and people snapping up pasture for pony paddocks and caravans, so the price of grazing is way out of reach for most! (sorry, rant over)

Yey a fellow hello from Kent! We are right next to the Romney marsh, just the wrong side of the canal near Hamstreet.

I used to ride a lot near Canterbury, I'm sure we rode our bikes down the huge hill that Pennypot Stables is on to get to my friends house in Chartham

HI and welcome from a very wet (but beautiful) south west Wales.
I was born in Kent (Tenterden), and my stomping ground as a teenager was Canterbury and .......Pennypot.....wow, that's a blast from the past  :D      I know Cranbrook well too, and all around that area in fact.
