Another question - my goat cries!
« on: November 27, 2011, 12:36:33 pm »
Hello again wise ones!
I have another question Im afraid.
My little boy GG appears to cry! Its not that I have seen any fluid coming from the eye, but he has a permanent wet streak down one side of his face, from the eye down. I have had a good look at him and nothing looks out of order - his eye looks perfectly healthy. No gunk, no fluid, no swelling, no redness, no nothing. I noticed this the day we got him, but I thought he'd maybe had a scuffle in transport and assumed it would clear up. Weve now had him for a fortnight and he still looks sad  :(
Although endearing, Im now getting worried there could be something going on
Thanks again for your help folks

Goats (and deer and sheep) have a scent gland below their eyes. Sounds like your little fella's is active. I don't know that it's a problem. If the secretion seems to be making his face sore, smear a little Vaseline below the gland on the skin, taking care not to block the gland or get it in his eye.
