Jack Russell advice needed

My lovely little two and a half year old Parsons is being a pain in the ****!!!!  Several times recently (including this morning) I have taken him in the car to a lovely common or wood for a walk, and he just doesn't want to go.  he gets in the car but as soon as I let him off his lead to go and play, he just meanders for a bit then sits down facing back to the car.  What on earth is up with him?  He had a really great play up in the woods yesterday, and I am wondering if he is just 'dog tired'  :P. Is there such a thing?  I would never imagined that a JRT would get it, and I am a bit concerned.

I'm no expert but I wouldn't expect a young dog like that to be tired on one play / walk a day, however good, especially if it's regular and he's fit.

I think I'd be letting the vet have a wee look, just in case, to rule out any health issues.

I'd second that.  A check up would be good.  Doesn't sound like any terriers I know of that age. :-\

How is he behaving at home? is he off colour there too?
Has something bad happened to him where you walk him has he been frightened there? most JRs i know want to take on the world!

 I wondered too if something had frightened or hurt him on a previous visit.  Otherwise get his heart checked by the vet.  :dog:

Hmmm...I think I'll take him to the vet tomorrow.  He just seems to sleep all the time!  Been for an hours walk just now and he was reluctant, and didn't skip off at all (like he should) just pootled along.  Now he is fast asleep on the carpet!

Having had several JRTs - i would say that is pretty uncharacteristic of the breed.
Trust your instincts, you know your dog, and if he isnt himself he should be checked over...even if it is for you to spend £50 for the Vet to tell you not to worry!!! .......Which we would all hope is the case (in the nicest possible way)  ;) ;)

When we rescued our little scottie boy he was so tired all the time - he was approx 5 years old.  He sontered along when out for a walk and he slept most of the time.  After a bit of research I asked the vet to check his thyroid and it came back as very very low.  He is now on a thyroid tablet to keep him fine and, although he isn't the fastest scottie, he is definately better. 

Hope you find out what is wrong.
