nut butters
« on: March 04, 2009, 09:10:13 am »
I just discovered the joy of making my own nut butters, as the price for those in the shops is just too much and my kids eat loads of it!

I buy any reduced packs of nuts at Julian Graves, roast them in a cast iron pan in the oven on 175 until they are browning slightly, them blend them with a bit of peanut oil. the results are stunning. you can try all sorts of mixes, the last was hazelnut, walnut and peanuts, most lovely is cashew with peanuts. The walnuts were left over from Christmas!
Obviously not a recipe for people with allergies...:&>

We'll try this. I love peanut butter on digestive biscuits. Or Ryvita (healthy?). Or toast. With strawberry jam.

Mmmm Yum yum
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
