I saw Richard Maxwell and Kelly Marks but they always seem to do a certain type of horse. It was a few years ago, maybe they've changed, but you never see them do the obstinate kiss- my- ass type of pony like mine was or maybe a shetland or fell pony, it was always the thoroughbred type.
A friend of mine got into deep problems with her New Forest mare using some of their techniques and had to resort to sending her away for training. I think it's great if you take on board the whole concept and research it and follow through, i think it's a potential disaster if people only take bits of the training and expect their horse to perform miracles from this.

 I used to watch every time he came to my region,he's the reason I got into NH in the first place,saw him when he bought Dually over and was cutting cattle with him bridless.But join up doesn't work on left brain mules and you are right when it came to "What's in it for me" and Fight not flight equines and anything passed Joinup you don't get much help.
   When Malaga was in his "Mad Malaga" stage I was desperate and tried various coarses,even putting Malaga in for a "First saddle" demo where he behaved terribly,completely lost it,bit the handler and was rejected (I say rejected because we were told which equines were to go into the demo but appart from that no one spoke to me,offered help or advice again).I found an IH trainer who had him for 10wks and never got a foot in the stirrup and  Malaga got worse.It was when he bit ME I finally listened to him
 I eventually turned to the NH I had been told to avoid which was started by a mule man,had ONE lesson and things changed.I sent him to a trainer who was riding him in a few days and although we have had a slow journey due to my confidence issues we have had masses of SUPPORT (7th key to success )
   I noted at a recent display when 4 horses were sent into the arena,loose(note I say arena not round pen which is much smaller0.Two were right brain and two left brain.The two RB's immediatly paired up as did the two left brain and I immediatly thought "Yes those two RB's are Monty's type for demos's" but I knew I had the tools to play the catching game with both the LB's and the RB's whereas before I would've only known join up with the two RB's

 There was a day when I dispaired ever going anywhere with Malaga in Public even in hand and now we are having fun


And when the weathers lousy we just play on the ground

       Last month I took Picasso to the  mule stand at The Malvern Autumn show and took him,ridden,into the display ring.My mind set has changed so much and I was so much more relaxed than before (when Malaga in his Mad Malaga time had behaved attrociously in hand and we had to fill in an incident form ) I now think "your opinion of me is none of my buisiness",relax and enjoy ourselves.
