Help - latex allergy?
« on: October 01, 2011, 08:39:34 am »
I'm hoping you lovely folks will, for some reason, know where to find nice bras that don't contain latex?
It seems my skin has decided that bra elastic is the work of the devil (I didn't connect elastic/latex until some, erm, enlightening googling. Be very careful pairing "latex" and "bra" in your searches  :o )

I've seen a couple of US shopping sites, and a couple of hideous options.

Without too much detail, I need something on the supportive, ather than flimsy side  :-[

Any thoughts?

It has crossed my mind to try making one, but honestly, where to begin??
Thank you  :bouquet:

The two thoughts I had were
  • Cotton bras.  A quick google and all I could find were 'cotton rich' so maybe that's a dead end.  Might be worth asking Rigby & Peller, some people complain they use outdated materials, so that sounded hopeful!  They only seem to have stores in the London area and Cambridge though; I don't know if their bras are available in other stores anywhere else.
  • Bra makers.  There are people who make bras to fit women of unusual sizes and shapes.  I couldn't find any in this continent by googling, sorry.

Oh- I used to work with someone who is allergic to latex. She couldn't even go near ballons. I'll ask her if she knows of anything useful.
