Sorry - draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus is basically let sleeping dogs lie but actually means 'don't disturb a sleeping dragon'.
Semper in excreto solum profundum variat is 'always in the sh*t only the depth varies'.

Sally - I LOVE the fox in with the hounds - never seen it before.  Perfect illustration of the saying  :) :)

My favourite,     It takes all kinds of vegtables to make a pot of soup

I like that.

One of my favourites, from the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, is very simple -

                            DON'T PANIC !!!

Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Is that for being old or being a one-time military wife?

My dad was an opera lover and would sometimes sit me down to listen to a recording. I would listen dutifully, bored witless. When dad realised this he would let me go, saying "It's like feeding a strawberry to a pig!"

Dad had clearly never hand-fed a pig!  Very discerning, our Meg is!

i had a sign above my front door when i lived in a house saying
'do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup'.

the bumper (basket) sticker on my bike reads;
if you ate today, thank a farmer

on love life.... don't matter where you get your appetite, just make sure to eat at home.

and my all time favourite.... it's far easier to get forgiveness that permission ;)
We'll turn the dust to soil,
Turn the rust of hate back into passion.
It's not water into wine
But it's here, and it's happening.
Massive,
but passive.

Bring the peace back

My all time favourite is:
"You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead"
