Done the right thing
« on: September 19, 2011, 01:34:02 pm »
I know i've done the right thing for my old pony. We have had him put to sleep today and although i'm in bits about it I couldn't watch him suffer anymore. He has had quite a battle with Cushings syndrome for over a year now and has done well up till this month, when laminitus and diabetes  kicked in and i felt he had had enough.
You were all right he did tell me when the time had come so on this lovely sunny morning RIP my darling old boy. You will always have a place in my heart

Well done feldar  :bouquet:  Lucky boy to have an owner with the courage to do the right thing at the right time.  He's at peace and out of pain now.
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

it's never easy to make that decision. We had to have our 20 yr old cat PTS the other week and we're still plagued with doubts. It's the ultimate responsibility of a pet owner, to have the courage to do the right thing when required. My condolences.

I'm sorry you've lost him, but he was a lucky pony to have such a caring and brave owner  :-*

So sorry ......but, it was obviously the best thing to do.  That does not make it any easier, though ......

Thanks everyone for your support. We have buried the old boy in our field near the wood, lovely spot. I will try and find a nice tree to plant there.
It was really hard, had a really bad day yesterday but i feel a lot better now he's out of pain

Planting a tree where he lies is a very good idea, remember all the good times you had together and having him close by will help you as time goes on  :bouquet:

Oh my love, I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  He will be galloping about the green fields at Rainbow Bridge enjoying being free like a youngster again.

I know how hard it is to say (goodby till we meet again) as I lost my wee dog (baby) in May this year.  I created a secret garden area where we laid her.  We planted beautiful flowers and I made a memorial stone for her.  It helped me focus on something positive.

Sending you and your horse love and huggs.
