Movement laws - sheep and pigs
« on: September 01, 2011, 08:25:53 pm »
To those of you who keep both sheep and pigs on the same land.....

When bringing new pigs on the land, we have a 20 day standstill.

When bringing new sheep on the land, it's 6 days.

So today, we had more sheep arrive.  Does that mean the pigs have to stay put for 6 days or 20 days?

Not that they are moving anywhere until November, but I just wanted to make sure.  Likewise if we brought more pigs on, does that mean ALL animals have to stand still for 20 days, sheep included?

thanks

In England the 20 days is pigs on pigs.

Pigs on -> pigs standstill 20 days, everything else standstill 6 days.
Sheep on -> everything standstill 6 days.

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing

Thanks Sally.  We have pigs, and are renting some land to a rare breed sheep breeder who has just brought more on this evening.  So it's 6 days standstill.  Thank you again  ;)
