I had some Shitarki mushroom plugs a few years ago, 2-3 and put them in a tree stump but since moved them all over the garden, soooooo, I went out this morning and noticed, in my bit of garden where I have pretend Toadstools that light up I know!! and saw them, I will NOT be eating them but wonder if they at least look like the mushrooms I am not sure about spelling util I go onto google!!!

What do people think?  I keep trying to shrink it but its being a bit difficult...will try again

that is one heck of a crop of mushrooms, get them harvested and eaten or dried

I tried googling shitarki mushrooms and nothing came up.  Can anyone send me a link to information about them please.

sorry to bring a bit of logic in here, but why buy the plugs and fit them, then wait two years, to get an amazing crop and then NOT eat it??

When Shiitake mushrooms mature their skin is quite dark and cracks a bit

Do you have a supermarket nearby which might sell them for comparison.
If yours are real shiitake, you have a feast on your hands and it would be a shame to waste them
I have tried growing them with no success so far.

it would be worth identifying them properly with spore tests etc. it looks like 2 different kinds,one on each log. the one in the foreground looks like a bolete but the one to the rears different.it might be an oyster mushroom type. certain identified boletes are a part of the polish christmas dinner and are rare and make good money

had a look have a few library books could be 2 mushrooms not shitake i buy it alot def not that could be brick cap small mushrooms appear in cluster in autumn grows on tree stumps the cap is 1 n a half  across quite convex flattens in older specimens the cap is brick red darkest in centre stem islong n whitish often paler towards margins gills are purplish flesh pale yellow n slightly darker towards stem definite smell of mushrooms or it might be sulphur tuft grows all year round the cap is 2-9cm across n is convex cap itself is bright yellow with dark orange centre stem 4-10cm curved similar colour to the cap gills start bright yellow but turn dark sulphur green then brown with age flesh is bright yellow becoming brownish near the base of the stem also mushroomy smell sulphur tuft is poisonous the other isnot have a few mushroom books if u want to borrow them keep saying i'm going to go mushroom picking every autumn then chicken out i'm sauchie by the way sure my carluccio book has better mushrooms and fotos
